Csíki Játékszín Theater

The show raises an extremely actual human and ethical issue: how far are we still able to empathise with, perhaps even understand, the suffering of our neighbours: those on another street, in another city, in another country, on another continent? To what extent can I become the Other and establish a genuine relationship with him/her?

In a world flooded with reality TV shows and infantile competitions, where images of a horror film or a real war give people the daily dose of adrenaline they need, what is the mission of journalists in conflict zones? Is it strictly to report (inevitably in part) on the unfolding of events, necessarily as breaking news? To facilitate (inevitably superficial) knowledge of the causes of so-called historical phenomena? Or perhaps, as the play reveals, their role would be rather to tell, through word and image, the story of people. To fix micro-history. To immortalise human destinies in critical, heroic, tragic moments.
